Anambra guber: UPP has gained roots – Chidoka

Former aviation minister and contender in the November 18, 2017 Anambra State governorship election, Chief Osita Chidoka,  under the United Progressive Party (UPP) said the party has gained firm roots in the state due to its egalitarian stance, grassroots appeal and progressive deportment.
Chidoka,  gave the  assurance  ahead of tomorrow’s national convention of the party.
The former Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Corps Marshal, who spoke yesterday while receiving members of the popular G.32 and Anambra Kunie youth groups, said he is impressed that the people of Anambra, especially the youths are massively connecting with a party that guarantees a brighter future for the state.
Chidoka, said his aspiration and popularity has triggered a dramatic surge in membership including defections from other parties to the UPP.
Stating that the UPP is the only party with genuine followership in Anambra, Chidoka said it has already entrenched formidable structures in the nooks and crannies of the state as the people identify with it as the indisputable people-oriented political platform through which they can realise their long suppressed individual and collective aspirations.
“UPP is the party of the people; it is the party with the true spirit of Anambra; a party that thinks about the people and their welfare.
“That is why you see a lot of people coming into our fold; that is why it is easy for the people to connect with our party.
“Anambra people cannot wait to take back their state and they know the UPP is the only viable vehicle through which we can collectively do so,” he said.
Chidoka said he appreciates the leaders and members of the party for massive acceptance he has received in and pledged to continue to propagate its lofty ideals.
He urged all UPP members and supporters to continue to disseminate the ideologies of the party as the future of the state now lies on its shoulders.
He thanked the youth for their support and pledged to run a government that is responsive to their development.
He said Anambra youth are brimming with energy and ideas, which must be properly harnessed for the benefit of the state, adding that he has perfected a blueprint that will ensure a comprehensive participation of the youth in his government when elected.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the group, Ben Chude said they were at the meeting to assure Chief Chidoka of their support at all levels of the governorship race, which he noted informed their support for UPP.
He said the youths believe in Chidoka’s leadership qualities and ideas for the growth and development of the state.
