Lionel Messi Out For Three Weeks After Suffering Groin Strain Against Athletico Madrid

Barcelona has been dealt a major blow as Lionel Messi was forced off with a groin strain injury during Barcelona's Wednesday night La Liga draw with Atletico Madrid. He is likely to be out for an estimated three weeks. According to a press release by FC Barcelona Twitter after the match:

"Leo Messi has an adductor muscle rupture in his right leg - the estimated low is three weeks,"

The Argentina star was being pressed hard by Atleti's Diego Godin and twisted in order to try and lose his marker. But as the 29-year-old pushed off, he tweaked the inside of his right groin and immediately began to hobble. Arda Turan was swiftly readied by Luis Enrique and the change was made after Messi sat on the turf with a concerned look on his face at the next break in play, 59 minutes in.
