Speaking to our correspondent on Tuesday, the Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Mr. Rasaq Fadipe, confirmed the incident.
“There was a fire outbreak there in the morning. But it was quickly put out before our men got there. The affected building was under renovation and mattresses were kept in the corridor. A welder was working and the welding lights dropped on the mattresses which caught fire. But there was no casualty,” he said.
However, the Principal of the school, Mr. Olatunji Oladele, said the incident was blown out of proportion.
“The fire was not extensive and only four mattresses were affected. It was not even in the pupils’ area. The Fire Service did not find anything when they arrived,’’ he said.
